인스턴스에 작업이 필요하다며 다음과 같은 내용의 이메일을 받게 되었다.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Compute - Reboot Scheduled for Virtual Machine Instance
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Customer,
To maintain the security and reliability of your Compute Virtual Machine instances, the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Team will be performing maintenance on the infrastructure hosting the instance(s) listed in this notification.
Within the maintenance window (from the time listed in this notification to the next 24 hours), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure will attempt to move your instance(s) to a different infrastructure through a reboot migration. It is recommended that you move your instance(s) before the time listed.
Details related to affected instance(s), timing, and instructions on how to move your affected instance(s) can be found in this notification.
To request a 7 or 14 day extension, you may utilize our self-serve options and reschedule the maintenance yourself, or contact support at least 24 hours before the action required by time and ensure you provide the 8 digit alphanumeric reference number and instance ID(s).

How do I move my instance(s)?
Many instances can be moved with a simple reboot. For more details, see the Live, Reboot, and Manual Migration: Moving a Compute Instance to a New Host documentation.
Why is this maintenance being performed?
We have scheduled a migration of one or more of your instances to hosts that run Oracle Linux Version 8 (OL8). The instances currently run on Oracle Linux Version 7 (OL7), which will soon be out of support. You may see notifications like this for most or all of your Compute instances. To avoid disruption to your production workloads as this upgrade takes place, we recommend following the Compute Best Practices information, especially regarding Fault Domains. See the Fault Domains documentation for more information.

뭘 하라는 거냐
내용을 봐서는 인스턴스 os 업데이트가 수행될 예정이라는듯 했다.
그런데, 링크된 문서를 보아도 뭘 하라는건지 잘 모르겠다;;
어차피 할 거라면 지금 할 수 있을때 바로 해보자.
수행한 작업
당연하지만 정확히 어떤 일이 벌어지는지 모르니, 백업을 먼저 했다.
인스턴스 > 메인터넌스 탭을 확인하면 이미지와 같이 "Migraitions scheduled"라는 이름의 작업이 생성되어있는 것을 발견할 수 있다.
세부 내용을 확인해보니 별거 없다.
백업을 해두었으므로 Start 버튼을 클릭했는데... 작업이 진행되지 않았다.
왜 아무 작업도 이루어지지 않는지 이것저것 뒤적여보다가..
한 번도 재부팅하지 않은 인스턴스를 이참에 재부팅하기로 했다.
Reboot 버튼을 누르니 인스턴스가 정지되고, 마이그레이션 스케쥴의 상태도 Scheduled에서 Processing으로 바뀌었다.
그냥 시작시키는게 다가 아니라 해당 기간에 인스턴스가 재부팅될 때 작동하는 작업이었던 것이다.
인스턴스 재부팅이 끝나니 마이그레이션 상태도 Succeeded로 변경되었다.
다행히 인스턴스에 들어있던 데이터에는 아무 영향도 주지 않은 듯 하다.
